Jay Cooke bought the six acre Gibralter Island in 1864 for $3,000. One year later he built a fifteen room summer house on the island for his family, later called the Jay Cooke Mansion. In 1998 The Tradesmen Group restored the mansion. The scope of work included copper roofing, sheet metal, gutters and downspouts. |
