University Hall

Purdue University

Layfayette, IN

Built in 1877, University Hall is the only remaining building of the original six buildings built on the campus of Purdue University. John Purdue requested to be buried in front of University Hall, and his grave site still serves as a monument to the University he loved. In 1999 a windstorm tore off part of the roof, which struck the steeple on the tower as it lifted away.

The Tradesmen Group rebuilt the damaged tower steeple, with new structural steel framing and concrete flooring. We also replaced the slate mansard roof and flat lock seam roofing. The cornice work included lead abatement encapsulation. All trades were performed in house with experienced craftsman specializing in each classification of work.

It was our privilege to serve the Purdue University in the restoration of this time honored building.
